Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 11 October 2026
These Terms and Conditions apply to the Step Along application for iPhone (the App), provided by Think To Be Ltd (Think To Be, we, us, or our). By downloading or using Step Along, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. The Privacy Policy below explains how information is handled when you use the App.
1. About Step Along
Step Along shows the daily step counts recorded in Apple Health and helps you track your progress towards a step target you set over a date range. It is a personal motivational tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, health, fitness, or professional advice.
Step counts, totals, averages, and projected dates shown in the App are only as accurate as the data recorded by your devices and Apple Health. Do not rely on the App for medical decisions. Speak to a qualified health professional before starting or changing an exercise programme, and stop exercising if you feel unwell.
2. Licence and intellectual property
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to use the App in accordance with these terms and any applicable Apple App Store rules.
The App, including its design, software, branding, and original content, belongs to Think To Be Ltd or its licensors. You must not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, translate, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it.
3. Price and advertising
Step Along is free to download and is supported by advertising. The App shows a banner advertisement provided by Google AdMob, as described in the Privacy Policy. If we ever introduce charges or paid features, we will make them clear to you before you pay for anything.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- keeping your device, Apple Account, and device passcode secure;
- deciding whether to give the App access to your step count in Apple Health, and managing that access in iOS Settings;
- exercising safely and within your own limits; and
- keeping your device charged and connected when you want to use the App.
We advise against jailbreaking your device, which removes protections provided by iOS and may stop the App working correctly.
5. Apple Health, connectivity, and data charges
The App needs your permission to read step counts from Apple Health. Without it, the App cannot show your steps. Apple Health and HealthKit are provided by Apple and governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
Some features, including advertising, analytics, and App updates, need an internet or mobile data connection. Your network provider may charge you for data use, including roaming charges when you are outside your home country. If you are not the bill payer for your device, you confirm that you have the bill payer’s permission.
6. Third-party services
The App uses third-party services that have their own terms, including:
Advertisements are provided by third parties. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, the content of advertisements or the products, services, or websites they link to.
7. Availability and changes to the App
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of Step Along. Updates may be needed to maintain compatibility, security, or functionality, and you may need to install them to keep using the App. We do not promise that the App will always be available or compatible with every device or iOS version.
We may end your right to use the App if you materially breach these terms. If these terms end, you must stop using the App and delete it from your device.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Step Along is provided on an “as available” basis. While we take reasonable care in providing the App, we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that step data shown will be complete or accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Think To Be Ltd is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, for loss arising from inaccurate or missing step data, from relying on the App instead of professional advice, from an unavailable third-party service or connectivity failure, or from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory consumer rights.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also retain any mandatory protections provided by the law of the country where you live, and the courts with jurisdiction under applicable consumer law may hear any dispute.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the App, applicable law, or our practices change. We will publish the revised version on this page and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practical.
11. Contact us
If you have questions about these Terms and Conditions, contact Think To Be Ltd at apps@thinkto.be. Please identify your message as relating to Step Along.
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 11 October 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the Step Along application for iPhone (the App), provided by Think To Be Ltd (Think To Be, we, us, or our). It explains what information the App handles, why, and the choices you have.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Think To Be Ltd provides Step Along and is responsible for the processing described in this Privacy Policy. For privacy enquiries, email apps@thinkto.be and identify your message as a Step Along privacy enquiry.
2. Privacy at a glance
- Step Along reads your daily step count from Apple Health so it can show your progress towards a step target. Your step data stays on your device. It is never sent to Think To Be, never shared with advertisers or analytics providers, and never used for advertising.
- Step Along does not require an account and Think To Be does not operate a server that receives your information.
- The App is ad supported. It shows a banner advertisement provided by Google AdMob. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, ads may be personalised; if you do not, you still see ads, but they are not personalised using your advertising identifier.
- The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used and to fix crashes. These services receive technical and usage information, not your step data.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
3. Health data
With your permission, Step Along reads the step count recorded in Apple Health (HealthKit). It does not read any other type of health data, and it never writes or changes data in Apple Health.
Step counts are read on your device and used only to display your daily steps, totals, averages, and progress towards the target you set. Step data is not stored on any Think To Be server, not included in analytics or crash reports, not shared with Google AdMob or any other advertising partner, and not used for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
You choose whether to grant access when iOS asks. You can review or withdraw access at any time in the Health app (Sharing > Apps > Step Along) or in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health. Without access, the App cannot show your steps.
4. Information stored on your device
The App stores a small number of preferences on your device so it can remember them between sessions: the date range you selected, your step target, and whether you have seen the help screen. These preferences are not sent to us and are removed when you delete the App.
5. Advertising and tracking
Step Along shows a banner advertisement, provided by Google’s AdMob service, at the bottom of the screen. The App does not show full-screen, video, or rewarded ads.
To show ads, and to personalise them if you allow it, AdMob and its advertising partners may process technical information such as your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, an approximate location derived from your IP address, device and App information, and how you interact with an ad, such as whether it is viewed or tapped. This processing never involves your step data.
After you first allow access to Apple Health, iOS asks whether to allow Step Along to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites, under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. Ads are not requested until you have answered. If you decline, or have limited tracking in iOS Settings, the App still shows a banner ad, but it is not personalised using your advertising identifier. You can change this choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Advertisers may also use Apple’s SKAdNetwork framework to measure the effectiveness of their advertising, in a way Apple designs to avoid revealing information that identifies you individually.
Google’s privacy policy and its explanation of how AdMob uses information describe how Google and its partners handle this information. Think To Be does not control, and is not responsible for, Google’s or its partners’ own processing.
6. Usage analytics
Google Analytics for Firebase, a service provided by Google, receives information about how the App is used, such as when it is opened, which screens are viewed, and how long a session lasts, together with technical information Firebase collects automatically: a randomly generated app-instance identifier, device model, iOS version, App version, language, and an approximate country or region derived from your IP address. Because the App also shows ads through AdMob, records of when an ad is requested, shown, or tapped may also be sent to Google Analytics for Firebase. If you allow tracking, Firebase may also receive your device’s advertising identifier.
Analytics never include your step counts or step target. We use analytics in aggregate, to understand how the App is used and to improve it. The App does not currently offer a setting to turn analytics off; you can stop all collection by deleting the App. Google processes this information under its privacy policy and Firebase privacy information.
7. Crash reports
If the App crashes or encounters an error, Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google, receives a report containing the technical details of the problem, such as where in the App’s code it happened, together with your device model, iOS version, App version, available memory and storage, and a randomly generated installation identifier. Crash reports never contain your step data. We use them only to find and fix problems. Google keeps crash reports for up to 90 days.
8. TestFlight beta testing
If you install a beta version of Step Along through Apple’s TestFlight app, Apple may share crash logs with us, and any feedback, screenshots, and basic device information you choose to send through TestFlight. This is governed by Apple’s TestFlight terms and privacy policy.
9. Legal bases
Where UK or EU data-protection law applies to processing carried out by Think To Be, we rely on:
- your consent, when you allow the App to read your step count from Apple Health, and when you allow tracking for personalised advertising through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt; and
- our legitimate interests in funding the App through non-personalised advertising, measuring how the App is used, diagnosing crashes, and responding to support enquiries, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
You can withdraw consent at any time using the iOS settings described above.
10. Retention and deletion
Step data remains in Apple Health under your control; Step Along does not keep its own copy. Preferences stored by the App are deleted when you delete the App. Information held by Google for analytics, crash reporting, and advertising is retained according to Google’s policies and our Firebase settings. Support correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer your enquiry and meet legal obligations.
11. Security
Step Along reads your step data on your device and does not send it to a Think To Be server. Access to that data depends on the security of your device, so keep it updated and protected with a passcode. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we use reasonable measures appropriate to the App.
12. International processing
Apple and Google may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Such processing is governed by their terms, privacy policies, and applicable safeguards.
13. Children’s privacy
Step Along is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us at apps@thinkto.be so we can delete it.
14. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of personal information, to receive a portable copy of it, and to withdraw consent. Because Step Along keeps your step data on your device, you can control it directly through Apple Health and iOS Settings. To exercise rights concerning information Think To Be holds, such as a support enquiry, contact us. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority; in the United Kingdom, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, applicable law, or our practices change. We will publish the revised version on this page and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how the App handles information, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practical.
16. Contact us
For questions about this Privacy Policy, contact Think To Be Ltd at apps@thinkto.be. Please identify your message as relating to Step Along.
